ORGANIZATION PROFILE

INTRODUCTION

Uganda Voluntary Development Association (UVDA) is a non-political, indigenously inspired and oriented voluntary organization, geared to the development of our country, Uganda, to promote and work for the welfare of the entire community.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • To establish closer contact and promote better relationships among its members and with other registered organizations.
  • To provide social activities for members and non-members.
  • To promote and preserve our customs and cultures through meetings, discussions and voluntary work
  • To unite all people by encouraging them to take part in voluntary self help activities and work, to improve their well being and status.
  • To work and to raise funds to try to meet the needs of marginalized people in the community such as orphans, disabled, war victims, youth and women.
  • To provide skills training to marginalized people in the community to enable them sustain themselves.
  • To initiate projects in the community, solicit and raise funds for these projects, and to contribute to their economic development.
  • To raise funds and provide scholastic materials and volunteer teachers for rural schools.
  • To promote and support community development activities in rural areas, to provide community development workers and to participate in environmental protection programmes
  • To provide volunteers and voluntary services where they may be required.
  • To promote income generation activities among marginalized women and youth especially in rural communities.
  • Our social services currently cover a small part of the community but may be extended to different places or districts upon request. The association’s objectives and policies run hand in hand with national development policies. However, independent community decisions are also taken into account given the fact that they are aware of their own basic needs.
